چکیده

This paper presents an iterative blind channel estimation algorithm that exploits the parity check equations of a channel code. While with conventional pilots prior data knowledge is used to estimate the channel, the idea here is to exploit prior knowledge of the parity check equations of the code. Furthermore, if an asymmetric code is used, the inherent phase ambiguity of blind systems is avoided. Hence, the channel can be blindly estimated to increase the spectral efficiency. An algorithm for iterating in a turbo fashion between channel estimator, equalizer and decoder is derived in such a way that the estimates of the channel are considerably refined throughout the iterations. The results of the proposed Blind Turbo Equalizer demonstrate that the Mean Square Error (MSE) of the estimated channel reaches the Cramer-Rao Lower Bound (CRLB) in a high SNR regime. In terms of BER, the blind Turbo equalizer reaches the performance of a Turbo Equalizer with perfect knowledge of the channel impulse response.

Turbo Equalization based Iterative Channel Estimation in SDMA SC-FDE Systems

In this paper, we propose an LDPC-based Frequency Domain (FD) turbo receiver to improve the channel estimates iteratively in a Single Carrier Frequency Domain Equalization (SC-FDE)1 uplink system in the presence of intra and inter-cell interference. Upper layer co-ordination is necessary to keep the average received power of the co-channel Out of Cell Interferers (OCIs) low. Such control can be...

Improving MIMO-OFDM decision-directed channel estimation by utilizing error-correcting codes

In this paper a decision-directed Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) channel tracking algorithm is enhanced to raise the channel estimate accuracy. While DDCE is prone to error propagation the enhancement employs channel decoding in the tracking process. Therefore, a quantized block of symbols is checked on consistency via the channel decoder, possibly corrected and then used. This yields a ...

MIMO Wireless Communication

■ Wireless communication using multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems enables increased spectral efficiency for a given total transmit power. Increased capacity is achieved by introducing additional spatial channels that are exploited by using space-time coding. In this article, we survey the environmental factors that affect MIMO capacity. These factors include channel complexity, exter...

In this paper we present a novel approach in Multiple-Input Multiple Output (MIMO) Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) channel estimation technique based on a Decision Directed Recursive Least Squares (RLS) algorithm in which no pilot symbols needs to be integrated in the data after a short initial preamble. The novelty and key concept of the proposed technique is the block-wise c...

Improved Low-Density Parity-Check Codes Using Irregular Graphs and Belief Propagation

We construct new families of error-correcting codes based on Gallager’s low-density parity-check codes, which we call irregular codes. When decoded using belief propagation, our codes can correct more errors than previously known low-density parity-check codes. For example, for rate 1/4 codes on 16,000 bits over a binary symmetric channel, previous low-density parity-check codes can correct up ...
